NBA ref suspended for throwing ball at fan

DeRosa suspended for throwing ball at fan during Game 2.

Referee Joe DeRosa has been suspended without pay for throwing a ball at a fan during halftime of an NBA playoff game in Orlando.

DeRosa will miss the next game he would have been scheduled to work.

At halftime of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals between Orlando and Boston, DeRosa was walking to the scorer's table to get the warm-up jackets for his crew.

A fan behind the table approached DeRosa, gesturing with his arms and appearing to be shouting at the veteran official. DeRosa flipped the game ball to the fan, who tossed it back.

No Jokes - England must win USA opener

Charlton - England must win USA opener

Jack Charlton is confident England will ease their way into the last 16 if they get their World Cup finals campaign off to a winning start against the United States.

The former Leeds man has warned Fabio Capello's men not to take the USA too lightly when the sides meet in their Group C opener in Rustenburg on June 12.

Charlton said: "At the moment, we have got top players there and it is up to the manager to decide who he plays, how he plays them and what type of game he wants to play. I am sure he is a very knowledgeable man and we have got a good start knowing we have got good players. I think the first game against America will be very difficult. If we win that, then we will win the group."

Charlton knows exactly what it takes to succeed on the big stage having enjoyed World Cup glory as a player in 1996 and led the Republic of Ireland to the finals as a manager.

But where his Ireland team fried in the heat of the American sun in 1994, he is hoping the elements could provide England with a further boost this time around.

He said: "We are going there in the winter where we might get rain and it might get a bit chilly, which might suit the England lads.

"Ninety per cent of the times you play at European Championships and World Cups, you are playing in very, very warm, very hot temperatures, and that is very hard for the players.

"But this time it looks as if we might have an opportunity to play in conditions which might suit us."

Barcelona sign Valencia's David Villa for £34.2m

Barcelona have signed Valencia's David Villa in the first major transfer of the summer. The Spain striker has cost the Catalan club £34.2 million and will move to the Nou Camp after months of speculation over his future.

Villa, Valencia's top scorer in La Liga with 21 goals, will sign for four years and will be paid €7 million-a-season according to Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo.

He had been coveted last year by both Barca and Real Madrid, but Barcelona picked up the services of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter Milan in a £40 million deal which saw Samuel Eto'o move the other way. Real opted to sign Karim Benzema instead.

A statement on Barcelona's official website read: ''FC Barcelona and Valencia CF closed a 40 million euro deal for Spanish striker David Villa on Wednesday morning.

''The Spanish international is due in Barcelona on Thursday evening and will have a medical on Friday morning. Villa will be officially unveiled as a Barca player at 1330 in the Paris Room of the Camp Nou. He'll then make an appearance on the Camp Nou pitch. The stadium doors will be opened to the public.''

Once the medical is completed he will join up with fellow Spain internationals Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Pedro and Sergio Busquets, all of whom are in the World Cup squad.

Thomas and Uber Cup, see you in 2012.

Thomas Cup and Uber Cup 2010 concluded yesterday, 16-5-2010.

A shocking result in Uber Cup, South Korea finally beat China after 6 try and recorded their first win.

The result does not represent South Korean are the super power in women event. Instead China lost are mainly due to their inexperience of the team. The team are mostly young and inexperience in Uber Cup.

There will bounce back for many years.

For men event, China are unbeatable ! There are on top of the world.

Again Asian are too good for others. These is no good to badminton world !!! We need equal shares of strength, hope BWF will do something to improve the standard of badminton in other country.

See you in two years........
