Thomas Cup, Malaysia down and out

A disappointing night for Malaysian. We lost to China 0:3 in Semi-Final, Thomas Cup.

Our first single and first double failed to live up to expectations, and lost tamely.

After playing so confidently in their previous matches, they crumbled last night. China are too hot to handle.

With the lost, Malaysian are very much sending the tie away.

As expected our second single Wong Choon Hann did gave a fight in the early game but went down in 40 minutes.

There go our chance of winning back Thomas Cup which has been leaving us for 18 years now. We have to wait for two more years.

Anyway, even we lost but I still enjoy the moments in the stadium. It was an electrifying atmosphere. I will be there again if we host the championship again.

Hey Thomas Cup, Malaysia will be back to get you in two years time.

Thomas Cup, Malaysia vs China

Thomas Cup Semi-Final, Malaysia vs China on 14/5/2010.

Just can't wait to watch this match. I will be watching it live from Putra Stadium. Fantastic !!! Luckily I bought the tickets 3 days ago. Some more it was the cheapest RM38 each, the rest are sold out. Oh well, my wife and I will be sitting and supporting Malaysia at top level.

My throat will be sore tomorrow, never mind it was worth it.

My predictions:-
1) Lee Chong Wee vs Lin Dan
A mouth watering match to watch. Clash or titan !  Match of the year ! Just name it ...... Lee Chong Wee win 2:1.

2) Koo Kian Kiat/Tan Boon Heong vs Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng.
According to stats, China pair hold the upper hand on this tie. With current form Malaysian pair should win...... Koo/Tan win 2:0.

3) Wong Choon Hann vs Chen Jin.
This should be a Chen Jin's match...... Chen Jin win 2:0.

4) Mohd Zakry Abd Latif/ Hoon Thien How vs Guo Zhendong-Xu Che.
With home support, hopefully Malaysian will spring a surprise...... Guo/Xu win 2-1.

5) Mohd Hafiz vs Bao Chunlai.
Hafiz, is he going to be a hero or zero tonight? Again with home support and Hafiz play like he did against Denmark then i will rate this ttie at 50-50. But on paper, Bao is the favourite....... I will give Hafiz a win 2-1.

MY prediction, Malaysia beat China 3:2.

Thomas Cup, Hafiz The Hero

Malaysia vs Denmark, Thomas Cup Quarter Final, 12/5/2010.

Hoorrayyyy, Malaysia beat Denmark 3:2 to qualify for Semi-Final against China tomorrow.

Malaysian players are totally different from yesterday match against Japan. They are more confident, urgency and spirits. It was just like a reawaken giant !!!

Am I overact !!! Oh well, I am very happy to see them win, I guess the nation are happy too. On the other hand before the match,  I already bought the Semi-Final matches tickets. See I have high hope of them going through Quarter Final. Eventhough I am disappointed with the lost to Japan.

Maybe it was good for Malaysia to be beaten by Japan. They really answer the rude wake-up call last night.

As usual 1st single and 1st double have no problem beating their opponents, syabas to these three players.

Our second single, Wong Choon Hann should have seal the tie for us but he blow away the chance after leading the first game with 20:17. But end up losing 20:22, allowing his opponent Jorgsensen to win five straight points in first game. Wong win back second game but lost the rubber game18:21.

Hope he will perform even better against Chen Jin tomorrow.

Our second double was a scratch pair, between Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Hoon Thien How. Surprisingly, they took the first game 26-24 from All-England champions Paaske-Rasmussen before going down 12-21, 19-21.

Eventhough they lost but their performance did not disappointed us. They played like an season pair instead of a scratch pair. Maybe BAM double coaches need to evaluate them, whether to pair them up for long term. Who know they may end up be our second pair.

The tie is 2:2 now, is the history going to repeat again? losing 2:3 ?

Here come our hero, Hafiz. I guess lots of people already written him off before he even step on the court. But surprise! He has transformed, it was a totally different player we see on court compared to Hafiz against Japanese. He just woke up at the right time.

He has disappoint Malaysian for long time after his All-England champion many years ago.

He was confident, cool (as usual) with his shot more accurate and less mistake to seal the win for Malaysia in cool style.

Maybe our players are more confident when playing in front of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah (the wife of the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad).

Well done Malaysia, these is what we want to see from you !

Malaysia Boleh.

Thomas Cup - Embarrassing Defeat !!!

Malaysia vs Japan - Thomas Cup 2010, 11/5/2010.

Malaysia was defeated by Japan 2:3. It was an embarrassing defeat for Malaysia.Eventhough I am not surprised at all but as a badminton "power-house" and host. We should performed better than these.

It is sad to see we lost to Japan at home.

Malaysia are good for 1st single and 1st double, the rest are disappointing.

Will it be a different story if we field Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah as 2nd double team?

I guess Malaysia will win if we choose them. They are older but their international performances has been good throught-out the years compared to existing pair.

On second single player, we have no choice. The backup players are still too far away.

Our third single, Hafiz is a real disappointing........ Oh well everybody gave their best, but still not good enough.

Hopefully this is a wake-up call to them. Lets fight and win back the Cup!

We still got chance.

LIVERPOOL no.7, EPL 09/10

Spanish F1, 2010

Does anybody watch F1 last weekend? The Spanish GP.

Australian must be proud and happy because Mark Webber won his 3rd GP in his F1 career. Well done, and hope this will not be the last for him and his team. Surely not, Red Bull are looking good for the team and driver championship this season.

Mark Webber, he is the first driver to lead from pole to finish first in this year race. He is unbeatable throughout the race. Well done, mate.

Although, his team mate having problem toward the end of the race. Vettel still able to nurse his car home with a deserved 3rd place and a podium finished. It seem like the luck is still not favor Vettel, he has been encountered problem after problem in this season. If not for the problem he faced, he would be sitting on top of the driver point standing now. Hope his luck will improve race after race. This guy deserved better than this.

Another unlucky driver yesterday is Lewis Hamilton, his front left tyre just gave way about 2 laps before the end. Otherwise, 2nd place finisher would be him instead of local favorite Alonso.

Fourth place finisher, he is none other than, Schumacher. Finally he beat his team mate after so many races this season. He also out qualified Rosberg in saturday qualifying session. Come on, Michael show us your power, and show the rest of world you are the Champion again, and you are not joining the race this year for fun. Go Michael.......

Here are the rest of top ten finishers :
1) Webber
2) Alonso
3) Vettel
4) Schumacher
5) Button
6) Massa
7) Sutil
8) Kubica
9) Barrichello
10) Alguersuari

Top three Drivers Standings:
1) Button
2) Alonso
3) Vettel

Top three Constructor Standings:
1) McLaren
2) Ferrari
3) Renault

See you in Monaco GP in one week time.

Chelsea The Champion of EPL 2009/2010

Chelsea, the Champion ! Finally we know who is this season English Premier League winner at the very final game of the season. Sound exciting ! But not at all, it was a two horses race season. Although Arsenal almost make a challenge but faded before reaching 2nd place.

Where is the other title-challengers? Arsenal and Liverpool ? Oh well, both are still in the league but just a bit far off to challenge the top two.

Arsenal finished on third place, not bad. Considering the team are made up of youngsters. Good future for the club. This team may replace Man Utd in coming season.

Liverpool, always started as favourite but again ended with empty-handed this season. And worst is there finished at position 7. A different of 7 points from 4th place Spurs. A poor and disappointing season !

The question now is whether Rafa will keep his promised by resigning from the team after it failed to finish at least 4th place. Or being sack ! No doubt he is a good manager but not good enough for EPL, maybe he needs more time and money.

How long will we have to wait for our next EPL title, actually the first EPL title. Liverpool have not won any yet. Even Blackburn record is better than Liverpool, there had won once.

Oh well, another disappointing season..................

Thomas Cup 2010

Horray, today 9-May-2010 is the first day of Thomas and Uber Cup 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Again, all the questions will be "who will be the Champion" !!!

As usual, same top teams are occupying the favourite tags. There are the power house of badminton, China, Denmark, Malaysia, South Korea and Indonesia.

These are the teams who has been dominating badminton arena for so long. This year will be the same case.

Based on this year individual players performance, there no sure win for any of the above country.

Denmark may post a danger to China and Malaysia. Indonesia is losing grip on the cup, their players performance are not impressive in the international circuits this year.

Malaysia as host, should be a best bet for the title. With Lee Chong Wee consistent performance this year and also with home crowds support. He will be a tough nut to crack at home.

If Malaysia to win the cup, their second and third single players must put up better performance. So to the second double team.

Oh well, lets watch and enjoy the games.

Malaysia Boleh !
