Thomas Cup, Hafiz The Hero

Malaysia vs Denmark, Thomas Cup Quarter Final, 12/5/2010.

Hoorrayyyy, Malaysia beat Denmark 3:2 to qualify for Semi-Final against China tomorrow.

Malaysian players are totally different from yesterday match against Japan. They are more confident, urgency and spirits. It was just like a reawaken giant !!!

Am I overact !!! Oh well, I am very happy to see them win, I guess the nation are happy too. On the other hand before the match,  I already bought the Semi-Final matches tickets. See I have high hope of them going through Quarter Final. Eventhough I am disappointed with the lost to Japan.

Maybe it was good for Malaysia to be beaten by Japan. They really answer the rude wake-up call last night.

As usual 1st single and 1st double have no problem beating their opponents, syabas to these three players.

Our second single, Wong Choon Hann should have seal the tie for us but he blow away the chance after leading the first game with 20:17. But end up losing 20:22, allowing his opponent Jorgsensen to win five straight points in first game. Wong win back second game but lost the rubber game18:21.

Hope he will perform even better against Chen Jin tomorrow.

Our second double was a scratch pair, between Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Hoon Thien How. Surprisingly, they took the first game 26-24 from All-England champions Paaske-Rasmussen before going down 12-21, 19-21.

Eventhough they lost but their performance did not disappointed us. They played like an season pair instead of a scratch pair. Maybe BAM double coaches need to evaluate them, whether to pair them up for long term. Who know they may end up be our second pair.

The tie is 2:2 now, is the history going to repeat again? losing 2:3 ?

Here come our hero, Hafiz. I guess lots of people already written him off before he even step on the court. But surprise! He has transformed, it was a totally different player we see on court compared to Hafiz against Japanese. He just woke up at the right time.

He has disappoint Malaysian for long time after his All-England champion many years ago.

He was confident, cool (as usual) with his shot more accurate and less mistake to seal the win for Malaysia in cool style.

Maybe our players are more confident when playing in front of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah (the wife of the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad).

Well done Malaysia, these is what we want to see from you !

Malaysia Boleh.
